About

IIstvan has lived in Ottawa since 1989 and enjoys what the area has to offer, including beautiful Petrie Island, Gatineau Park, Mer Bleue Bog and Larose Forest. Since 2016, he has pursued his interest in painting (currently in acrylic and gouache/watercolour) and photography. 

His inspiration is nature, particularly landscapes and florals. 

Istvan uses photography to collect reference material and explore his emotional response to nature in preparation to work in the studio. When not painting or rambling with his camera, Istvan enjoys learning about art, art history and biographies of famous painters. His favourites are the impressionists and expressionists from the 19th century, which influence his approach to his own art. 

Istvan is a member of Arteast Ottawa and Art In The Neighbourhood.
