As the tilt of the earth’s axis begins to point away from the sun, the angular light can turn the ordinary into the dramatic. Here in the Northern hemisphere, this is particularly noticeable in late summer/early fall. Add to that sun bleached, golden fields and foliage turning to rust and the landscape becomes spectacular.
This scene is from just such a day on one of the back roads in Cumberland. The summer heat and haze are gone.
