One of the great things about a smart phone is that there’s always a camera in your pocket. Even on walks around the neighbourhood there’s always interesting things to see that catch the imagination. I am always stopping and bending down to capture an image to take home for later. I am almost as invisible to passers by as these plants.

There are urban nature survivors in the most unlikely places. There’s beauty even in the delicate filagree patterns of these desiccated plants. Despite the neglect and tough environment, these plants will return again in the spring pushing up tiny leaves and flowers on slender stalks, for a wonderful new cycle as the weather warms.
