Re-cycle

Acrylic, 30×40 on gallery wrap – $1,320

When I was working in Ottawa’s centre town, I would sometimes walk by this place during lunch hour. A beautiful jumble of bikes of all kinds with a couple of workers busy repairing or restoring bikes of all vintages from classics to everyday models.

The Bike Dump Store ( https://bikedump.store/ ) has been operating for over 30 years and Dave’s story is inspiring. Check out the history page on their site.

Took many photos and thought long about the daunting level of detail. Of course, I did take some license with colours, but only for picture design.

Petrie Dusk

Acrylic, 24×36 on gallery wrap – $950

I go down to Petrie Island from time to time, enjoying the bit of wild in the city and collecting inspiration and reference photos. I have not been there in the evening, so when I saw the photos from July 22 by Greg Scriver , I was captivated by the beautiful subtle colours and peaceful evening scene. I asked Greg for permission to use his pic as a reference for a piece I imagined and he generously agreed.

So here is my effort. Admittedly, the colours are pushed (can’t help it, I love colour) so mine is not as peaceful as Greg’s . I also made more of the pickerel weed. I love those blue/purple water’s edge flowers. Thank You Greg!! (Chi Migwetch!!)
